Knowing How To Identify
Real Courage
There are many things in life that will test our courage. Our courage is tested by the different challenges we face. Sometimes those challenges are big and sometimes they are small. Having courage does not mean never being afraid of anything. In fact, we might say that fear and courage go hand in hand. After all, why would we need courage for something that we are not afraid of or something that doesn't present a challenge. Fear is basically not knowing what is going to happen or how a situation is going to turn out. Having real courage means being able to function in a situation that you may be afraid of.
Situations That Test Our Courage
Sometimes the simplest things in life can test our courage. When we first think of the word courage, our first impression is some gigantic challenging situation, such as going mountain climbing for the first time or having to give a speech in front of thousands of people. While those situations do require courage, there are many everyday situations that test our courage all the time. For example: It may take courage to approach a guy or a girl that you may be interested in, or it may take courage to change your eating habits in order to loose weight. Real courage may simply mean being able to admit you were wrong about something and be willing to apologize.
Courage As A Way Of Life
Many people don't view courage as way of life. Some people view courage as something that you can pull out of your closet in time of desperate need or emergencies. What they don't realize is that courage is something that needs to be learned and practiced on a regular basis in order for it to grow.
Sometimes we tend to put people on a pedestal for having what we see as "great courage." However, courage is something that is obtainable to every person. Real courage may mean taking risks that may seem small to others, while it is really a big risk for you. Sometimes circumstances in life might require you to have courage to change your environment or move out of your comfort zone.
Remember that courage is not always loud or enormous. It doesn’t necessarily make us fearless and invincible. Simply standing up for what you believe in. when others are opposed to you, is an example of real courage.
