Curing the Incurable

In a small office in Southern California, a woman sat calmly listening to a young gentleman sharing his worries, concerns and fears about his recent diagnosis of diabetes. "So," he said finally, "I don’t want to own this, to live with diabetes all my life. What can I do?" Earlier that same day, the woman a natural health practitioner had spoken with a woman named Patty whose son had been diagnosed with cancer and another woman, Donna, who had just been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism.

What do all these people have in common? They have "Incurable" diseases ... or so they’ve been told.

The truth is that every disease, every disorder has, sometime in history, been cured using natural means. Our bodies are designed to be whole, perfect and complete. They are always in a state of rebuilding, replacing and repairing. When our body is not whole, perfect and complete, something is wrong in our environment, internal or external and it’s up to us to find out what that is and fix it.

Take Patty and her son for example. If Patty were to get a second opinion, one outside of traditional western medicine, she would likely find that cancer can be cured. In fact, a little bit of research would show that cures for cancer have existed for centuries.

Does this mean that doctors don’t have our best interests at heart? Of course not! Based on their education and experience, they are giving the best care and advice that they know how. The challenge is that there are options outside of your doctors’ experience and education that provide additional opportunities to heal.

We play into the trap that having a narrow focus provides. If you ask a surgeon how to handle cancer, they will say "cut it out". A pharmacist might tell you that there are medications that will help you "control" cancer. A naturopath will give you an entirely different set of options, perhaps consisting of homeopathy or flower essences. A practitioner of Reiki might want to schedule sessions to do some energy healing work. An Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) practitioner will want to help you release the emotional issues you are holding onto. All of these people are interested in curing the cancer or at least helping the patient to live longer.

Which one of these practitioners should you visit? The answer is "it depends". All of them can help, many of them can cure. It’s the quality of that life that is important. And, the first step is to look within.

Remember, you are responsible for your health. Not someone in a white lab coat and a medical degree, not a naturopath, not your aroma therapist, your spouse, parents or your children. You. Once you’ve accepted this and decided to release yourself from the disease or disorder, you can take the steps necessary to heal.

Your greatest ally in the search for a practitioner to help you heal is your own intuition. It might not tell you who to see, but it will help you determine what’s wrong. And, it will tell you when you’ve found the right practitioner.

You’ve probably also felt that sense of absolute confidence that you’re doing the right thing. That’s your intuition at work. Maybe Have you’ve ever walked away from a person or situation thinking "I just don’t know?" That’s your intuition talking; telling you something’s wrong here ... it’s the flashing neon sign that says "don’t go that way!"

How do you begin to tap into your intuition? Start by journaling. Find yourself a quiet space and start writing, without judgment whatever comes to mind. Need some help? Ask yourself things like “What’s going on that I need to pay attention to?” or “What can I do to care for myself?” Later, when you read what you’ve written, you may say "No way! That’s not me." And yet, if you’re honest with yourself, you may come to realize that it is indeed you.

There are things that you can do to help you tap in to your intuition and get to the root of the problem. Flower essences, for example, are great at helping you become aware of the emotional issues that are holding you back.

Now, you’re ready to talk to a practitioner in real world terms about what’s going on. Start by getting a list of all the types of practitioners who can help you. The internet is a great vehicle for this search as are periodicals such as Healthy Times. Find out what each practitioner does and, using your intuition, match it up with what you need to resolve based on your journaling and your intuition. Trust your intuition to guide you to the right person for you.

Keep in mind that you are evaluating two things, the person and their practice. If what they do is right for you, but you don’t feel comfortable with the person, find another practitioner in the same field. In addition, don’t stop searching just because you’ve found one type of healing. Many modalities are complimentary.

Isn’t it possible that every healing modality has some benefit and, in concert, might actually return you to the healthy being that you are? Isn’t it possible that you are guided to something or away from something for a reason? Starting one healing modality doesn’t mean that you have to stop another.

And yet, there are some things that you might want to avoid. Drugs, prescription medications, do not cure or even care for you. They mask the symptoms, theoretically until your body can heal you. Unfortunately, when you consistently ignore and mask the symptoms, the more your body works to get the message across to you that something is wrong.

If even one person has been cured of the disease or disorder you are facing, then you can to. It may not be an easy or simple road, yet it is possible. Look to those examples for hope, courage and faith.

The moral of the story is that no disease or disorder is incurable. Even if you’ve been on medication for forty years and have been told that you body simply won’t work, do your own research. Find out what will work for you, in your current situation. And remember to choose to live a happy, healthy life.
