This Month's Question

I have many problems. Which do I take care of first?

As a general rule, you want to take care of your most pressing issue first. Take a few moments to determine what's bothering you the most, then select the combination or the essences to resolve that problem.

Most of the time, solving the primary issue will solve many other problems as well. Once your most pressing issue has been taken care of, then you can look at the next most pressing issue. Keep this up until all your issues are resolved and you are balanced.

Do you love a good book? I do. I love curling up with a good book just before I go to bed, or on cool days in front of the fire. Some of my favorite authors include Tracy Chevalier and Catherine Ponder.

A recent and personal favorite of mine is Caroline Reynolds book Spiritual Fitness: How to Live in Truth and Trust. . Spiritual Fitness is a lifestyle and an attitude based on living in truth & trust. In the book, you'll discover the 7 steps to becoming Spiritually Fit.

If you're serious about using Bach Flower essences to heal yourself and others, then your library can't be complete without The Bach Remedies Workbook: A Study Course in the Bach Flower Remedies. As a full-time consultant at the Dr Edward Bach Centre since 1996, Stephen Ball is involved in developing and presenting the Practitioner Course and in all other aspects of the Centre's work. This definitive guide is the culmination of his work to date.

I find that the flower essences are also an invaluable tool in treating my animals. For insight into the essences to use, I often refer to Bach Flower Remedies for Animals. It is an invaluable guide to the care and treatment of animals through Bach Flower essences.

Home Homeopathy Kits

For many years, my dear friend and mentor, Shelley McQuerter, has been selling home Homeopathy kits to her students of which I am one. These are kits that she has put together using her twenty years of experience and expertise in the field.

Now Shelley is making these kits available to the general public with the stipulation that they only be promoted by her students. So, it is with great pleasure that I am able to offer these kits to you:

Homeopathic 30C Family Kit

These kits contain the homeopathy needed in any home and for far less than you would pay if you bought the remedies individually. Because I am a great believer in the power of homeopathy and saving money, I highly recommend that you get one of these kits for your home.

Homeopathic 30C Family Kit

Make sure that you mention my name, Jackie Beck, when you purchase.

Good News, Bad News

First the bad news. On May 11th, the United States Post Office will be raising their rates. The rate increase will be approximately 5% and affects First Class mail, Parcel Post and Media Mail. This means that the cost to send a letter will now cost 44 cents instead of 42 cents.

Now, the good news. Since the postage rate increase does not include Priority and Express mail packages, you will not see a price increase from us. And, because we've switched to using the small flat rate priority mail boxes, we've been able to keep our costs low even though those around us have raised their rates.

Because we care, we'll keep bringing you news, updates and information.

Commitment to the Cause

When we started Healing Combinations, we had one mission; to heal the planet one person at a time. We started with Bach Flower combinations, added homeopathy, then Via Viente.

Recently, we ran across some alarming statistics; information that made us take another look at what else we could do to heal the planet:

  • 80 million people have some for of heart disease.
  • 1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will have cancer in his or her lifetime.
  • Over 21 million children and adults have diabetes.
  • 64% of adults are overweight.
  • About 59% of adults do not engage in any rigorous physical activity.
  • The two most important things you can do for your body are eat right and sleep well, yet most people don't do either one.
  • Our natural health care expenditures were 2 trillion in 2005 or $6,700 per person.
  • By the age of 12, an estimated 70% of our children have developed the beginning stages of hardness of the arteries.
  • 1 in 3 Americans born in 2000 will develop diabetes.
  • 1 in 4 children is obese.
  • Nearly 50% of obese adolescents remain obese as adults.
  • 7% of school age children are diagnosed with ADHD.
  • About 6% of elementary school children and 7% of adolescent children miss 11 or more days of school yearly due to illness or injury.
  • Over 93% of children and adolescents do not consume their recommended 3 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.
These statistics are alarming and yet there is something that we as a company can and individuals can do. You see, Dr. Bach believed in Three Levels of Healing. The first is immediate attention. This is where you go to your local doctor to get diagnosed and, possibly, patched up. The second level is natural healing, where your body does the job it was designed to do. Herbs, homeopathy, accupuncture, supplements, Reiki and many other healing modalities aid the body and fit into this category. Level three looks at the root cause for the disease or disorder. Bach flower essences fit at this level.

Level one and three are already taken care of for you by your local doctor and the Healing Combinations you take. In fact, you may already be doing some level two work as well by visiting your chiropractor, accupuncturist, or Reiki master. In addition, if you're not already, you might consider doing something proactively; something we've started, Juice Plus.

You see we've always believed in eating healthy, balanced meals and we were shocked to discover that we don't get enough fruits and veggies. And, those we did get were often over processed, over cooked or lacking in the nutritional value our bodies need. So we decided to do something about it.

Enter Juice Plus. For $1.28 per day, we get 17 of the fruits and vegetables we need in four little capsules that we can take with our morning coffee. And, when we discovered the Healthy Kids Program where one of our kids gets Juice Plus free for every adult signed up, we were hooked. We can't buy groceries that cheaply and our kids love the capsules and chewables.

Have we given up on raw fruits and veggies? No. We do take our Juice Plus every day and so do our kids. Since we know that your good health is important to you, we recommend that you give Juice Plus a try. Visit www.jackiebecksjuiceplus.com for more information.

Use your Mind for Meditation

If you are looking for a way to reduce stress in your life, mindful meditation is something you may want to consider. Mindfulness is a type of meditation that essentially involves focusing your mind on the present. Being mindful is to be aware of your thoughts and actions in the present, and accepting them without judgment. One can be aware of thoughts and emotions without being overwhelmed by them. Doing this will facilitate relaxation. It has also been shown to reduce blood pressure and lower the heart rate.

Some people believe that meditation involves trying to stop all thoughts and rest their minds in thoughtless peace. That is not the purpose of mindful meditation. Having thoughts is perfectly normal. It is not necessary to try to resist them. The practice of non-resistance is one of the core principles of mindful meditation. Dealing with thoughts is how it works. If you notice that you have become distracted by thoughts, use your mindfulness to gently bring your attention back to the object of your meditation. This is how you slowly learn to control your mind and increase your powers of concentration

Basic Meditation Techniques

Meditation basically involves relaxing your body and your mind. To start you should find a comfortable quiet place to relax. You can use a chair; sit on the floor or whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Relaxing Your Body

When it comes to relaxing your body, breathing is the key. Let your breathing be natural and gentle. Breathe through your nose, paying attention to the quality of your breath, whether it is fast or slow, deep or shallow. Giving attention to your breathing will help your body relax. Many people don't realize how much chronic tension can reside in the body. This breathing exercise can undo this tension, and restore balance and peace to your mind.

The natural Bach Flower Essences in Healing Combinations for Mindful Meditation work together to bring your mental, emotional and spiritual being into balance. It will make it easier for you to relax and meditate without worry, fear, distractions or other issues that can hinder the meditation process.

Relaxing Your Mind

When you are meditating, it is natural to have wandering thoughts. Rather than trying to control your thoughts, be an observer. The more you try to control your thoughts, the more effort you will be using and you will not be relaxing. Practice observing your thoughts and feelings with compassion and tolerance not analysis or or judgement. Just let your thoughts come and go.

If you are just beginning the practice of meditation, start out with just a few minutes at a time. Five or ten minutes a day may be enough to begin. With consistent practice you will see the benefits that mindful mediation can bring.

Taking control of your asthma condition

If you or a close family member has asthma, you know that attacks can sometimes be very frightening. Even though there are varying degrees of this disease, it may sometimes be life threatening, so it pays to understand as much as you can about asthma. By educating yourself about this condition, you will be able to minimize the impact it may have on your life.

Asthma is defined as a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Asthma can cause recurring periods of wheezing chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing. Much of the coughing occurs at night.

Medically, the exact cause of asthma is still unknown. Researchers believe that a combination of both genetic and environmental factors play a role in this condition. Recent research suggests that exposures early in life to certain things such as tobacco smoke, infections, and some allergens may be possible causes of asthma. Emotionally, asthma is being smothered and having the inability to breath for one's self; feeling stifled. It's also suppressed crying.

Asthma symptoms occur when the airways are narrowed, swollen or filled with mucus. The most common symptoms of asthma include:

  • Shortness of breath,
  • Coughing
  • Wheezing
  • Chest tightness, pain, or pressure
Not every person with asthma will experience all of these symptoms. Some people may have different symptoms at different times. Symptoms may also vary from one asthma attack to the next. Symptoms may be mild during one attack and quite severe during another attack. You should also be aware that stress is a common asthma trigger. So you should avoid stress as much as possible.

Asthma is a long-term disease for which doctors believe there is no cure, however, asthma can be controlled with proper treatment. Medication can help stop the wheezing and shortness of breath, but it is only part of what is needed to manage asthma. You will need to find out what lifestyle changes can provide asthma relief for you.

Asthma is treated with two types of medicines: quick-relief medicines and long-term control medicines. Long-term control medicines help reduce airway inflammation and prevent asthma symptoms. Quick-relief, or "rescue," medicines relieve asthma symptoms that may flare up at any time.

The goal of asthma treatment is to keep the disease under control. Good asthma control can prevent or minimize chronic and troublesome symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath. It may reduce your need for quick-relief medicines and it may also help your lungs to function properly while maintaining your normal activities.

By following your doctor's advice, and avoiding things that trigger your asthma, you can take control of your asthma and its symptoms. Much of asthma management is a matter of simple lifestyle modification. Many people with asthma are able to lead normal lives.

Healing Combinations for Asthma is a unique set of Bach Flower Essences specifically selected to help you remove the underlying causes of Asthma; being smothered by love, not having the ability to breath for yourself, feeling stifled, suppressed crying, and fear of life. By resolving these issues, the outward physical symptoms will disappear.

Determining to be more Self-Confident

Have you ever spent time with a person that is self-confident? Think about how you felt being around that person compared to spending time with someone who lacked confidence. Who would you rather spend more time with? If you were to be honest, you would probably say you wanted to spend more time with the person that was self-confident. I'm not talking about being over confident or arrogant, but someone who trusts in their own ability to meet the challenges that are necessary.

Your perception of yourself will have an impact on how others perceive you. Your level of self-confidence can show in many different ways. It may show in your body language, how you speak, what you say, and how you react to others.

Self-confidence is important in almost every aspect of our lives. For some people it is critical to effective performance in the workplace. It can mean the difference between getting a promotion and just staying at the same level or position. The more self-confidence you have, the more likely it is that you will be successful.

Sometimes people who are not self-confident are easy to spot as they constantly depend on the approval of others in order to feel good about themselves. They will often avoid taking risks because they fear failure. They generally do not look forward to being successful.

Building Self Confidence

Identify Your Insecurities -Find out what makes you lack self-confidence. It could be something in your physical appearance, or it could be a particular skill that you are not good at and you are afraid someone will notice. Find out what it is and get to work on it.

Don't See Yourself As Inferior- Don't allow yourself to have the mindset that others are better qualified than you are. This applies to anything, whether it is related to work, relationships or just socializing. Remember that no one is perfect. Even the most confident people have insecurities.

Identify Your Strengths- Nobody is bad at everything, so emphasize the things that you excel in and give yourself permission to take pride in them. Don't be afraid to take credit for your success.

Take Reasonable Risks. The emphasis here has to be on "reasonable". However, the fact that you have never done something before does not necessarily mean that you won't be able to do it. Take advantage of opportunities that will expand your growth and knowledge, but be sure to set realistic goals.

Focus on the positive aspects of who you are, and work on areas that need improving. The key to confidence is appreciating who you are and not being afraid to be yourself.

To help you, pick up a bottle or two of Healing Combinations for Complete Confidence, a set flower essences selected to help you trust yourself, make decisions easily and remain calm, cool and collected in the face of challenges.
