Jackie Recommends
Do you love a good book? I do. I love curling up with a good book just before I go to bed, or on cool days in front of the fire. Some of my favorite authors include Tracy Chevalier and Catherine Ponder.

Another of my favorite's is The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Like many people, I've seen the movie (I even own it) and still I love reading the book and jotting down notes as new things come to me.

One of the wisest, most spiritual women I know is Caroline Reynolds, author of Spiritual Fitness: How to Live in Truth and Trust. She understands how the world works and how you can, on a deeper spiritual level, best relate to it. I believe in her so much that she's one of my personal coaches.

Dealing With Acne

Acne is undeniably the most common skin disorder. A majority of adolescents are affected by at least one form of recognizable acne. While the exact cause of acne is unknown, the visible forms such as blackheads and whiteheads are closely associated with hyper activity of the oil glands and congestion of the skin pores.

Acne isn’t something that only affects teenagers. Many adults have to deal with pimples or blackheads well into their 40's. Acne problems at any age can be annoying and can take away from your appearance. However, the good news is that you can do something about it.

A dermatologist’s help may be required for severe cases. However, before prescribing treatment, a dermatologist should consider several factors such as the severity of the acne, the patient’s age, skin type and lifestyle. Also there are some practical things you can do on your own to help treat and prevent acne.

The following tips may be helpful.

Stop Picking and Rubbing Your Skin

You should avoid picking, scratching, or rubbing the affected skin area. The dirt from your fingers or fingernails may contribute to clogged pores, and picking can cause additional irritation, making the symptoms worse.

Gentle Care

When choosing soap for washing the face or other affected areas, look for a gentle cleanser that cleans but does not take the moisture away from your skin. You should also avoid using deodorant soap or typical shower soap, as these tend to over-dry and irritate your skin

Drink Plenty of Water

While diet doesn't appear to have much affect on acne, many people report that increasing their water intake seems to help their skin stay healthy looking. While this is not a proven medical fact, it is always good to flush your system with water every day.

Try Our Combination

Healing Combinations for Acne is a combination of Agrimony, Crab Apple, Holly, Honeysuckle, Larch, & Willow; Bach Flowers aimed at restore your natural looks. This combination works on the deep rooted issues that are known to be the cause of Acne.

Be Consistent With Skin Care

Once you have begun a regimen of care for your skin, stick with it. It may take several weeks to see positive results. Once you find your skin clear, don't relax; stay vigilant about fighting acne. If you find an over the counter medication that works for you, continue to use it according to the instructions. You can win the fight against acne!

Controlling Diabetes and Your Lifestyle

Diabetes is the name for the condition where the blood sugar level in a person's body consistently runs too high. It is estimated that more than 16 million people in the United States have diabetes. While modern treatment for Type One and Type Two Diabetes allow people to live a nearly normal life, things can still be challenging sometimes as diabetes can have an impact on your emotions, relationships, and everyday life.

After being diagnosed with diabetes, depression may set in because you suddenly realize that you are dependent on insulin injections and you have to take care about what you eat and drink to avoid serious medical complications. You may start to feel as if you've lost control of your life. You may also feel that you have to change your lifestyle or give up some of the things you enjoy doing the most. However, most people with diabetes find that they don’t have to find a whole new lifestyle. Instead they find that they just have to make a few adjustments to the lifestyle they already have.

Family and Relationships

There is no doubt that diabetes can have an impact on family relationships. Concern for your health may mean less time and attention for children and your spouse. However, with a bit of creative handling the diagnosis of diabetes in a family member could be a starting point for everyone in the family to get themselves into better lifestyle habits such as exercising and making better food choices. There are also support groups available for families having difficulty coping with this disease in their family.

Sports and activities

If you are active in sports, you shouldn’t feel that you have to give that up, in fact exercise is recommended. Being active can play a special role for people who have Type Two Diabetes. A moderate amount of exercise will help your body use its own insulin better and improve your blood pressure. It can also help you manage your weight.

Traveling

Traveling into different time zones or countries where medical supplies may be unreliable can be a problem sometimes for people with Type One Diabetes. The key here is to make sure you have an adequate amount of supplies before leaving and make sure you take medications at the appropriate time.

Avoiding Stress

It is very important to avoid stress if you have diabetes. Stress hormones can sometimes cause blood sugar to rise and you may need more insulin or other medications to control your blood sugar level. Avoiding stress may not be easy if you have an occupation that is stressful by nature. However, it is important to make a conscious effort to keep the stress level down as much as possible.

Eliminate diabetes today. Get yourself or someone you love a bottle of Healing Combinations for Diabetes today!

What You Should Know About Hyperthyroidism

The thyroid is a 2-inch long, butterfly-shaped gland that weighs less than an ounce. It is located in the front of the neck below the larynx, or voice box, Hyperthyroidism is a disorder that occurs when this gland makes more thyroid hormone than the body needs. About one percent of the U.S. population has this condition.

What Causes Hyperthyroidism?

Graves' disease is the cause of most hyperthyroidism. In Graves’ disease, the body's immune system attacks the thyroid gland. The thyroid fights this by making too much thyroid hormone. Like many other thyroid problems, it can often run in families.

Iodine Ingestion can also cause this condition. The amount of iodine you consume may influence the amount of thyroid hormone your thyroid makes. In some people, consuming large amounts of iodine can cause the thyroid to make excess thyroid hormone.

Another cause of hyperthyroidism is a swollen thyroid or small growths in the thyroid, which are called thyroid nodules.

Symptoms

There are many symptoms associated hyperthyroidism that can vary from person to person. The following are some of the most common symptoms of hyperthyroidism:

  • fatigue or muscle weakness
  • heat intolerance
  • hand tremors
  • rapid and irregular heartbeat
  • weight loss
  • nervousness or irritability

Treatment

Treatment for hyperthyroidism will often depend on the cause of the condition and how severe it is. When deciding on how to treat this condition, the doctor should consider several things such as the person's age, allergies, or possible side effects to medications. Also other conditions such as pregnancy or heart disease should be considered.

There is no single treatment that will work for everyone. The aim of the treatment should be to bring thyroid hormone levels to a normal state as to prevent long-term complications. There are three main treatment options: medication, radioiodine therapy, and surgery.

The natural Bach Flower Essences in the combination for Hyperthyroidism work together to bring the mental, emotional and spiritual being into balance. If any part of ones being is out of balance, the body will manifest some physical symptom to indicate that something is wrong. This combination works on the deep seated issues that are known to be the cause of Hyperthyroidism.
